When Breath Becomes Air is a non-fiction autobiographical book written by American neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi. It is a memoir about his life and illness, battling stage four metastatic lung cancer. It was posthumously published by Random House on January 12, 2016. While When Breath Becomes Air is an autobiography, it is a book that sketches Kalanithi's life arc from birth to death forcing you not only to think about your own mortality, it urges to self-analyze how you are living your life.
This book was a very well-written and emotional package. There were many parts that make the reader feel like they are in the book, by the author, in the story. It makes you feel so many emotions that by the end, you don’t know which one sticks out the most.
